FRABA’s new production facility in Johor Baru, Malaysia

The year 2023 was a successful one for the FRABA Group, which manufactures POSITAL and UBITO solutions among other brands. A leader in motion-control sensors, FRABA saw increasing sales and the founding of a new technology centre, with a 16 per cent rise in overall business activity.

FRABA increased sales to €46 million over 2023, while opening a new office and research and development centre in Cluj, Romania.

Dedication to technology, innovation

As an international corporation with strong dedication to technology and innovation, FRABA chose to locate its new office in a city with an esteemed technical university as a crucial element in its strategy for attracting skilled, energetic workers. The company also boosted production at its factory in Johor Bahru, Malaysia – a plant with a semi-automated, computer-guided production system for high-volume manufacturing. This addressed rising demand for Wiegand components for event sensing and energy harvesting, while increasing production capacity for POSITAL’s popular kit encoders. FRABA doubled its output of Wiegand sensors from the previous year and nearly tripled its production of kit encoders.

Another highlight of 2023 was the rollout of a new generation of solutions for the POSITAL and UBITO business units. FRABA’s NEXTGEN initiative has had two primary objectives: to ensure that the company’s products incorporate the most efficient and updated technology, and to reorganize its supply chains to avoid issues that the corporation experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. FRABA has invested in the development of a new in-house-designed ASIC in its key Wiegand-sensor business, which will make the company depend less on external suppliers.

Although FRABA has seen solid business growth over the past year, the company sees signs of economic headwinds – for instance, a weakening inflow of orders from machinery manufacturers. Although it expects to face challenges over the current fiscal year, FRABA is confident in its advanced, innovative products and its highly responsive business culture, a combination that should result in continued long-term success.

Founded in 1918, the FRABA Group is made of a closely integrated set of business units that make technically advanced products and services for manufacturers.
