The Interface WTS-BS-1 wireless transmitter

Interface Force Measurement offers a wide selection of industrial test and measurement solutions that are available in Canada through Durham Instruments – such as the unique and innovative WTS-BS-1 wireless handheld display. This is an unlimited roaming transmitter that allows the user to cycle the display between all available transmitter modules.

Forming part of the WTS modular telemetry system, the WTS-BS-1 measures a mere 90 by 152 by 34 millimetres and roams between transmitters in range.

Designed for low-power operation

This wireless handheld display is a versatile device that works for applications in a broad range of industrial markets. Among the sectors for which the Durham Instruments team deems the WTS-BS-1 suitable are general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, forestry, the military, mining, power generation, alternative energy, transportation, and research and development.

Multiple receivers – such as displays, handheld readers, analog outputs, relay modules, and computer interfaces – can use the data sent by transmitter modules. Receivers support common industrial power supplies and are available in robust IP-rated enclosures with internal antennas optimized to offer outstanding coverage.

The WTS-BS-1 does not need pre-configuration of associated transmitters and will wake transmitters as they come within wireless range. It is powered by two 1½-volt AA batteries and is designed for low-power operation. The WTS Toolkit software provides a quick and simple means of configuring the display format, and an available accessory is the WTS-Case, a black leather case with a clear viewing window and shoulder strap. Other advantages of this instrument include a sleep/wake function, automatic shutdown, and rugged construction. Among the technical specifications:

  • Power-supply voltage: 2½ to 3.6 VOC
  • Radio type: licence-exempt transceiver
  • Radio frequency:4 gigahertz
  • Transmit power: 10 milliwatts
  • Range: up to 800 metres
  • Operating temperature range: -10 to 50 degrees Celsius
  • Storage temperature range (no batteries): -40 to 85 degrees Celsius
  • Maximum humidity: 95 per cent non-condensing
  • IP rating enclosure: IP67

Other Interface solutions available from Durham Instruments include fatigue-rated and miniature load cells, single-channel USB modules, telemetry load shackles, output modules, isolated signal conditioners, multi-axis force sensors, and many other options for a variety of needs.
