HBM's T40B torque flange, available from Durham Instruments

Among the great measurement tools and equipment available in Canada from Durham Instruments are HBM’s lines of sensors, recorders and transducers. A unique innovation from HBM is its T40B torque flange, which is the first torque flange of its class to make use of a very secure digital data transfer between the rotor and the stator – a development that yields consistently reliable test results.

Can handle adverse conditions

The T40B torque flange is a stand-alone transducer that guarantees accurate results even in the most adverse ambient conditions, such as electromagnetic interference, humidity, vibration, or temperature variation. No matter what elements of the work environment could affect this instrument’s ability, this torque flange from HBM always delivers as it should, with an accuracy class of 0.05.

Users can check the T40B at any time, due to its easily connected shunt. Its constant accuracy has been verified by the high-quality test standards of HBM’s own internal calibration lab. Durham Instruments recommends this instrument for applications in several industries, including general manufacturing, automation and controls, power generation, alternative energy, research and development, and transportation.

The T40B has many other notable features, including the following:

  • Nominal torque ranging from 50 to 10,000 newton metres;
  • Nominal rotational speed ranging from 10,000 to 24,000 revolutions per minute;
  • A measurement frequency range of up to six kilohertz (kHz);
  • Compact design;
  • No bearings or slip rings;
  • Analog output of plus or minus ten volts;
  • Low rotor weights and mass moments of inertia; and
  • Optional rotational-speed measuring system and reference signal.

Also available separately from Durham Instruments is the TIM40 torque interface module. This secondary module is connectible to the T40B and has a measurement frequency range of up to ten kHz. Other characteristics: mounting on support rail; scaling, filtering, and zeroing of torque signals; output signals of plus or minus ten volts; an Ethernet interface capable of 38,125 measured values per second; and optional accessories, such as Anybus modules.
