Thermowells:

1. • Function: Protect sensors from hostile process environments, allowing isolation from process conditions, increasing sensor life, yet facilitating maintenance of the probe and accurate readings. All without interrupting the ongoing process conditions or exposing the process to the exterior atmosphere.
   • Design: Closed at the process end and machined from solid bar stock of stainless alloys or carbon steels. Threaded, flanged, socket weld, van stone, weld-in, and sanitary process fittings conform to ASME PTC19.3-2016 and CRN pressure vessel certifications.
   • Purpose: allow removal and replacement of probes easily without disrupting the process, like emptying a tank or stopping a flow.
   • Applications: Thermowells are used in industries that require isolation from the probe, including chemical processing, oil and gas, power generation, food production, pharmaceuticals, etc.
   • Certifications: A Canadian Registration Number (CRN) issued for a thermowell certifies its safety for pressure vessels like boilers, piping, or fittings. Thermowells are sometimes required for a CSA EX. proof certification.

Protection Tubes:

1. • Function: Protection tubes by Thermo-Kinetics protect sensors, usually thermocouples, against contaminating atmospheres and or mechanical damage. Closed at the process end. Metal protection tubes provide mechanical damage protection. Ceramic protection tubes are non-gas permeable and protect from corrosive gasses or other materials.
   • Purpose: A protection tube shields the temperature sensor from extreme conditions, such as corrosive chemicals or abrasive materials. It prevents damage to the sensor and extends its lifespan, while ensuring an accurate reading.
   • Applications: Protection tubes are used in all industries, including glass manufacturing, metals processing, ceramics production, and high-temperature applications like furnaces and kilns.
