The HBM T210 shaft torque sensor

HBM Test and Measurement products are available in Canada via Durham Instruments, and among the manufacturer’s latest innovations is the T210 torque transducer. This innovative shaft torque sensor has an exacting measurement system that transmits measured values, plus the supply energy, from the rotor to the stator in a contact-free manner. The T210 is well-equipped for use in a universal spectrum of applications – and especially ideal in development test benches or for End-of-Line tasks.

Capturing rotational speed, angle

This torque transducer is a versatile device that works for applications in a wide range of industries. The Durham Instruments team deems it suitable for use in the general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, food-processing, pharmaceutical, medical, packaging, power-generation, alternative-energy, and transportation sectors and in research and development.

Another key advantage is the instrument’s ability to capture the rotational speed and angle of rotation, following which it transmits these values through a voltage or frequency output. In addition, the round shaft ends allow a simple, free integration. Because of the standardized compact design of the T210, users can retrofit their existing facilities effortlessly with it, and it serves as a unique all-in-one solution.

The T210 is a precise and universal unit that gives users both torque and RPM in one maintenance-free instrument. Other features include downwards compatibility with the HBM T21WN torque transducer, a known mounting hole pattern, a three-dimensional model available as a STEP file, and user-friendly integration during planning, installation, and operation. Accessories available include a five- and ten-metre connection cable, bellow couplings, a cable plug, a VK20A junction box, and TIM-EC/TIM-PN/ClipX interface modules.

Technical specifications for the T210 include the following:

  • An HBM accuracy class of 0.1
  • Nine nominal torque ranges of measurement, from ½ to 200 newton metres
  • Nominal rotational speed of up to 30,000 disintegrations per minute
  • Speed measurement of 512 impulses per rotation
  • Voltage and frequently output of plus or minus 10 volts, 10 kilohertz, or plus or minus five kilohertz
  • Linearity deviation of less than or equal to plus or minus 0.05 per cent
  • Bandwidth measurement of up to one kilohertz
