pressure-washing sensors

POSITAL has substantially expanded its portfolio of rotary encoders and tilt sensors to include more devices with IP69K level environmental protection.

The most recent development at POSITAL-Fraba is a new group of pressure-washing sensors with IP69K-level environmental protection. Now available with more mechanical options and communication interfaces, these rotary encoders and inclinometers can stand up to repeated exposure to high-temperature water jets in pressure-washing systems. Encoders now have more shaft diameters and flange types (hub and square), while encoders and tilt sensors have a larger range of available interfaces, including analog, CANopen, J1939, SSI, Modbus and IO-Link.

Special housing and sealing solutions

A major part of maintenance in many sectors, pressure washing is used to clean heavy agriculture and construction equipment and to sanitize food-processing machinery. When strong enough to withstand harsh treatment, position and motion sensors help manufacturers and system integrators build equipment that meets strict standards for reliability, maintainability, and lifespan.

To qualify for the IP69K rating, a device must withstand pressures as high as 1,450 pounds per square inch, temperatures of up to 80 degrees Celsius, and water spray for at least two minutes. POSITAL imbues its pressure-washing sensors with special housing and sealing solutions. Ingress-protected IXARC encoders resist shock and vibration loading and can be ordered with heavy-duty stainless steel housings designed for the rough conditions that mobile machinery and off-road vehicles encounter. Multi-turn absolute models have self-powered rotation counter systems based on Wiegand energy harvesting, making backup batteries unnecessary.

IP69K-rated TILTIX inclinometers have extra-rugged, die-cast aluminum housing to protect against accidental impact loads. TILTIX pressure-washing sensors, labeled Dynamic TILTIX, are available as acceleration-compensated inclinometers with industry-leading dual-sensor technology. They sharply reduce measurement mistakes due to the inertial effects of rapid motion.

Rugged IXARC encoders and TILTIX inclinometers have a broad range of mechanical configurations and interface options and are straightforward to integrate into new or existing designs. Customers can find the IP69K-rated sensors they need for specific applications through the powerful product-finder tool on POSITAL’s website. After site visitors input the features they require and zero in on the most suitable units for the job, POSITAL’s digital Mass Customization system can have sensors built and shipped in only a few days.
