Three categories of sewage pumps are available.

Wastewater utilities is an industry that benefits from John Brooks Company Limited products. As communities aim to maintain efficient, sustainable wastewater management, they must address the challenges of non-biodegradable items and fats, oils, and greases – which are substantial threats to sewage infrastructure when combined with wipes, diapers, rags, plastics, and more.

Municipalities can ensure the smooth operation of their sewage systems, protect public health, and safeguard the environment with effective sewage solids-handling pumps.

Stop blockage, leakage, and overflow

These fluid-handling solutions offer several key advantages. Users can address solid-waste accumulation, caused by non-biodegradable items, which results in lower flow rates, clogging, and higher maintenance needs. Sewage solids-handling pumps also stop blockage, leakage, and overflow, issues that pose health risks and environmental contamination. Other benefits: higher treatment efficiency, which leads to optimal performance and lower energy consumption required; preserved water quality, as the pumps minimize contamination and protect aquatic ecosystems by adequately breaking down solids; and improved cost savings, with reduced downtime and maintenance expenses.

John Brooks Company carries three categories of pumps from various manufacturers for sewage solids handling: centrifugal pumps; submersible pumps; and positive displacement pumps. Gorman-Rupp centrifugal pumps are popular in sewage-treatment facilities, operating by using centrifugal force to move sewage. They are available with open or closed propellers. Vaughan’s conditioning pumps, meanwhile, use chopper impellers to cut and macerate solids.

Submersible pumps are designed specifically for immersion directly into sewage or wet wells, and they are often used in lift stations and wastewater-treatment facilities. These pumps are adequate for handling raw sewage, and users can equip them with such features as vortex impellers or solids-handling abilities for conditioning sewage with solids and debris.

Positive displacement pumps available include Seepex progressive cavity pumps and Vogelsang rotary lobe pumps. The Seepex models handle viscous and non-Newtonian liquids, making them appropriate for sewage with higher levels of solids, sludge, or grit. Vogelsang’s IQ and VX series efficiently handle thick and viscous substances like sludge and wastewater, and their robust design enable dependable, continuous operation, which ensures proper treatment and disposal of municipal wastewater.
