The T40B digital torque transducer by HBM

With a lineup of innovative industrial solutions, HBM Test and Measurement makes its products available to Canadian customers via Durham Instruments. A key example is the T40B torque transducer, trusted for top static and dynamic torque measurement. It offers digital torque measurement with nominal (rated) torques from 50 to 10,000 newton metres.

The T40B is a cost-efficient, high-performance flange that gives users high precision, robustness, and reproducible results in test benches.

Maintenance-free and fail-safe operation

A versatile device, the T40B provides digital torque measurement for power-train, aero, engine testing, and other applications in various sectors. Durham Instruments recommends it for use in general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, the military, power generation, alternative energy, and research and development.

Major benefits of this torque flange include high-temperature stability and 0.03 per cent accuracy in terms of linearity, including hysteresis. The T40B allows power measurement in the drive train when the user combines it with the integrated magnetic rotational-speed measuring system. The non-contact power supply and digital signal transmission result in maintenance-free and fail-safe operation, while the TIM-EC interface module for EtherCAT and TIM-PN for Profinet create top performance and flexibility when integrating torque and rotational speed signals with world-class test-bench systems.

This torque transducer provides and HBM accuracy class of 0.05, high temperature stability, and high accuracy and stability because of the ratiometric measurement method. Even in difficult ambient conditions, its innovative digital data transmission delivers reliable measurement data. High vibration strength makes the instrument robust, and error detection ensures transmission with no interference or loss in accuracy.

Another advantage is maximum flexibility for current and future digital torque measurement. Analog and digital interfaces are available for easier integration with varying test-bench systems, plus an optional reference pulse for acquiring the absolute rotor position. The T40B is particularly powerful for testing electrical equipment when used with Genesis High Speed. The reference pulse helps users get data about the absolute rotor position, which they need for analysis.

The T40B is the first flange of its class to benefit from especially secure digital data transfer between rotor and stator.
