The HBM GEN2tB transient recorder and DAQ system

HBM Test and Measurement products are available to the Canadian industrial market from Durham Instruments, such as the GEN2tB transient recorder and data-acquisition (DAQ) system. This device is a compact, standalone distribution solution that satisfies users with its high-end features while staying cost-efficient for small channel counts, with only two slots.

The GEN2tB’s compact size makes it perfect for portable and mobile applications, and users can mount it on a rack for an end-of-line test bench.

Optional SSD drive available

A versatile device that expands with operator requirements, the unit can function as a high-end transient recorder, entry-level DAQ instrument, or both. It is recommended most for tasks in which many channels must be distributed over a test area or around a large structure, due to the optical Master/Slave connection, which is immune to electrical noise.

The GEN2tB transient recorder and DAQ system comes with free Perception standard software, which can be installed on as many computers as required to control every system and review acquired data. Businesses can use the instrument for several versatile tasks by choosing the appropriate input card. Possible examples include the following:

  • material testing with strain gauges, IEPE sensors, or thermocouples, with a sample rate of up to 500 kilo-samples a second
  • recording voltage or vibration with IEPE transducers, with up to 16 channels at the same time, as high as two mega-samples a second
  • ultra-fast voltage or strain-gauge measurement, like “Split-Hopkinson bar”
  • using the system as a 12-channel power analyzer with real-time power computation and harmonic analysis

The system can be expanded to up to 12 voltage or current channels, 16 high-speed sensor channels, or 24 channels that use fibre-optic digitizers or any combination of these. The rugged, lightweight construction of the GEN2tB makes it easy to transport with a carrying bag or belt. An optional SSD drive is available.

This transient recorder is a versatile device that suits tasks in many industries. The Durham Instruments team deems it appropriate for use in aerospace, automation, the military, mining, power generation, transportation, and research and development.
