The Penny & Giles JC1200 Hall-effect paddle joystick

Durham Instruments has a broad inventory of innovative industrial solutions, including several models of joysticks by Curtiss-Wright. For example, the Penny & Giles JC1200 Hall-effect paddle joystick is a stylish, non-contacting device that offers exact fingertip control for the user. The JC1200 brings on the next generation of paddle joystick, building on the success of the Penny & Giles JC120 model. A key advantage of this version is its non-contacting, Hall-effect sensing technology.

Smoother and easier to operate

Hall-effect sensing provides long-life integrity for the output signal. It also eliminates contact wear and offers safety functionality through dual outputs, which the user can set to positive or negative ramps or a blend of the two. Curtiss-Wright has developed the JC1200 with a strong priority on operating feel: this joystick is smoother and easier to operate than any previous model, throughout a cycle life of five million – the longest in the industry.

A choice of paddle “Tabs” is available in nine distinct colours; Curtiss-Wright can supply the JC1200 as “base-only”, so these tabs can be either fitted at the factory or supplied as loose parts to be chosen as part of the final installation process. The sealing of the internal PCB to a rating of IP65 assures the electronic robustness of the instrument, and the user can also achieve a joystick-to-panel rating of IP67 if desired. Other notable features of this paddle joystick:

  • robust design for arduous applications;
  • options for either return to centre or return to end;
  • under-panel depth minimized to nine millimetres; and
  • dual outputs with sense and voltage span options.

In addition, customers have a choice of two outputs, three output senses, and two spring return positions; the two outputs offer different percentages of power supply.

The Curtiss-Wright Penny & Giles JC1200 Hall-effect paddle joystick is an extremely versatile device that suits a variety of applications in many industries. Durham Instruments deems it suitable for use in general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, food processing, forestry, education, the medical sector, the military, mining, packaging, power generation, alternative energy, transportation, and research and development.
