A Denso primer was used for Ontario wind turbines.

Denso North America anti-corrosion products continue to protect structures for years after application. This is why Canadian businesses choose to invest in Denso’s lines of petrolatum tapes, pastes, primers, and liquid coatings. For instance, a series of wind turbines in Ontario still get protection from a Denso primer after 15 years.

Providing sustainability for the long term while saving money and eliminating maintenance, this primer was the ideal solution for these wind generators.

A more sustainable energy source

There has been a strong push for alternative energy as fuel prices have risen substantially over the early 21st Century. As a result, many Canadian hydro entities have been harnessing wind power as a more sustainable energy source. For example, an Ontario renewable-energy project in 2006 involved the construction of 45-by-1½-megawatt General Electric wind turbines, located strategically over roughly 2,500 acres of land across the province. To reduce the reliance on more traditional, fuel-burning energy sources, this installed capacity would be capable of generating no less than 67½ megawatts of renewable energy.

The project needed strong anti-corrosion protection for a large amount of anchoring re-bar rods that would support these wind turbines and form part of the foundations for the bases. A Denso primer was chosen by maintenance personnel for top results.

To avoid corrosion during shipping and installation in the field, this primer was applied to the anchor bolts at the manufacturing facility. Onsite, workers set the bolted rods into concrete pads and attached them to the bottom cylindrical bases. After bolting each section together, they mounted the turbine heads, each one with three 50-foot blades, on top of the tower structures and then connected each turbine with heavy electric cable.

After 15 years, this priming solution is still protecting these Ontario turbines as they continue to spin, producing energy and directing it into the power grid for the local region. This is merely one example of how Denso anti-corrosion solutions have provided long-lasting protection and protected the integrity of structures for years.

Trust Denso for long-term sealing and anti-corrosion protection every time.
