Municipal applications benefit from Vaughan pumps.

Vaughan Pumps fluid-handling solutions are renowned for unmatched reliability, and they are available through John Brooks Company Limited. An advantage of Vaughan’s pumps is that they solve the needs of municipal services. Every municipal project has different requirements, and Vaughan has something to meet every scenario.

With experience in working with municipalities worldwide, Vaughan gives customers the chance to use its engineers’ wealth of expertise.

Lift stations, scum, and more

John Brooks Company carries Vaughan pumps for these municipal applications:

  • Clarifier scum. Vaughan pumps handle primary and secondary clarifier scum without plugging or air binding. Most popular for clarifier-scum pits is Vaughan’s vertical recirculator chopper pump, which enables full mixing of pits to put floating solids back into suspension. The recirculator valve can be motor-operated with timers for complete automation.
  • Digester scum blanket. Anaerobic digesters form scum blankets due to grease, hair, and other floating materials. The Vaughan Scumbuster pump virtually eliminates the effects of scum blankets and stops them from reforming by homogenizing and conditioning. This mixing allows digesters to regain their design capacity, extends time between cleaning, and generates more methane gas.
  • Lift stations. Vaughan lift-station solutions reliably chop and pump raw incoming solids, replacing standard non-clog pumps and eliminating the need for costly pre-grinders and comminutors in demanding sewage applications. Ideal for prisons, hospitals, and restaurants.
  • Septage. Raw, concentrated solids from septic tanks create a challenging pumping environment for standard sewage pumps; rags and plastics can clog solids-handling units.
  • Digester mixing. Vaughan’s pumps mix digester sludge effectively, replacing gas, draft-tube, and submersible-prop mixing systems while boosting digester efficiency by constantly chopping solids, with no need for costly pre-grinders and comminutors.
  • Digester re-circulation. Chopper pumps by Vaughan recirculate digester sludge through heat exchangers, which increases digester efficiency while eliminating clogging of the exchanger. Again, no expensive pre-grinders and comminutors required.
  • Sludge transfer. Chopper pumps handle up to 18 per cent solids in municipal sludge; the chopping action eliminates roping caused by the wrapping of hair and rages because of pre-rotation of recessed impeller pumps.
