The RVA501 rotating vane anemometer

Chevrier Instruments Inc. carries measurement solutions by TSI Alnor, including two models of rotating vane anemometers: the RVA501 and RVA801. The RVA501 is a handheld digital device that measures air velocity, air volume, and temperature in metric or imperial units, while the RVA801 is a lightweight, robust, easy-to-use variation.

Customers get a carrying case, alkaline batteries, an operation and service manual, and an NIST calibration certificate with the RVA501 and RVA801.

Log, store, and recall data

Available with a USB cable and downloading software, the RVA501 has a 100-millimetre head that automatically averages velocity and volume readings, making the instrument essential for measuring unevenly distributed or fluctuating flows through heating and cooling coils, diffusers, grilles, and filters. Chevrier recommends the RVA501 for such applications as heating and cooling coil analysis, diffuser and grill measurement, indoor air-quality tests, and filter face velocity measurement.

Sweep mode quickly, dependably offers one averaged velocity or volume reading over a large measurement area. The RVA501’s detachable head is perfect for measuring in confined spaces, and its optional telescoping probe provides safe access to hard-to-reach locations. Its data-logging function can store more than 12,700 readings. LogDat2 software enables recording and tracking of important measurement information from various USB-enabled TSI instruments. Other notable advantages of the RVA501: ability to log, store, and recall data; a measurement range from ¼ to 30 metres per second; and compatibility with Aircone Flow Hoods.

The RVA801 provides accurate, reliable readings every time it measures air velocity, air volume, and temperature with simple button operation; it displays readings in metric or imperial mode in the same measurement range as the RVA501. The RVA801 also features an attached swivel head that rotates, so the display always faces the user. This instrument is perfect for the same applications that the RVA501 serves, as well as HVAC commissioning and fume hood face velocity tests.

Other features and benefits of the RVA801 include a reversible 100-millimetre head that enables readings at supply and extract grilles, calculation of volumetric flow rate, and automatic averaging of air velocity. No density-correction factors are necessary.
