The KIMO DBM 620 airflow meter

The Sauermann Group manufactures test and measurement solutions that are available in Canada via Chevrier Instruments Inc. For instance, the KIMO DBM 620 airflow meter is a multipurpose, electronic air-balancing device recommended for efficient taking of air-volume readings from air vents, and it can display up to four parameters at once.

The DBM 620 uses long-range, low-energy Bluetooth 4.2 technology to measure airflow, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure, temperature, differential pressure, and air velocity.

Switch between five hood configurations

Supplied with a calibration certificate, this versatile airflow meter provides the Air Changes per Hour metric, the first of its type to be integrated into a balometer. This allows operators to switch easily between five different hood configurations. Lighter and smaller than preceding Sauermann gadgets of its kind, this instrument from Chevrier also functions as an autonomous micro-manometer with a Pitot tube attachment. The SmartKap app gives users easy reading and export of measurement data, and the extendable tripod eliminates the need for ladders in most work environments. Other key features of the KIMO DBM 620:

  • Air Change Rate function
  • Automatic airflow direction, extraction or air blast
  • Automatic or point-by-point averaging
  • Hold function
  • Hoods flow straightener, compatible with all air-vent types
  • Measuring range from 35 to 4,250 cubic metres per hour (m3/h)
  • Patented folding frame and space-saving hoods storage
  • Removable measuring unit with micro-manometer function
  • Transport case for compact storage

A major advantage of investing in the DBM 620 is its high accuracy. For airflow, the calculated parameter provides an accuracy of plus or minus three per cent of the measurement plus or minus 10 m3/h and a resolution of one m3/h. Regarding air velocity, every calculated parameter has an accuracy of plus or minus three per cent of the measurement plus or minus 0.04 metres per second (m/s), a measuring range from 1/5 to 10 m/s, and a resolution of 0.01 m/s up to three m/s and 0.1 m/s above. As for temperature (NTC), accuracy is plus or minus 0.02 degrees Celsius, measuring range goes from 0.2 to 70 degrees Celsius, and resolution is 0.1 degrees.
