photoelectric frame sensors

IBIS carries Dietz photoelectric frame sensors.

IBIS Electro-Products Corp. remains a top supplier of sensing tools, including many kinds manufactured by Dietz Sensortechnik. Dietz offers a line of photoelectric frame sensors, equipped with numerous transmitter and receiver diodes that enable users to detect even tiny objects, of any material, clearly in the active zone.

These sensors from Dietz are recommended for several applications, such as monitoring very small objects in free fall, detecting small parts conveyed by compressed air, ejection control, protecting tools from damage, separating different-sized objects, yarn break control, measuring object lengths and sizes, and feed control.

High resolution, short response time

Dietz photoelectric frame sensors detect tiny objects with an infrared light curtain inside the frame from the diodes, which are located on opposite sides of each unit. Advantages of these sensors include ease of assembly and both shorter response time and higher resolution than standard solutions with many individual through-beam sensors have. The optical paths cannot influence each other, and the frame sensors is usable in an open or ā€œUā€ shape in limited space, due to the removable crossbar. With the integrated sensitivity controls, the variable pulse stretching, and high ambient-light immunity resulting from modulated light, the output signal is always processed reliably.

These sensors work on two alternative operating modes that adapt them to different practical requirements. Dynamic mode allows the frame sensor to detect extremely small objects that move quickly, which is a boon in ejection control. In this mode, the sensor can automatically adapt itself to changing environmental conditions, which boosts operational reliability. Static mode enables users to detect slow-moving or inert objects inside the frame, which is useful in congestion control.

Other features of these photoelectric frame sensors include robust metal housing and material-independent detection of objects. Some variations have adjustable pulse stretching, adjustable sensitivity, and/or removable crossbars. IBIS also offers analog versions that provide a signal proportional to the number of light beams covered, enabling users to determine the size or position of objects that have entered the detection area. Sizes range from 20 by 20 millimetres to 300 by 150 millimetres.
