Wainbee Limited offers Parker's P8S line of continuous position sensors.

Wainbee Limited is the supplier to trust for the best in predictive-maintenance equipment. This includes products by Parker – like its P8S line of continuous position sensors (CPS). These instruments use analog signals or IO-Link communication for linear cylinders, and they enable contact-free monitoring of cylinder strokes from 32 to 256 millimetres.

Users get an outstanding price-to-performance ratio from the P8S series, which they can install on standard linear actuators.

Fast, easy, and precise

Many industrial applications require more than mere end-of-stroke sensing of an actuator. But the standard methods of continuous sensing are costly and hard to implement. With Parker’s P8S line of continuous position sensors, customers get smart, fast, easy, precise, and contact-free position sensing of pistons.

With these instruments, the continuous transfer of positional data upgrades the functionality of the pneumatic cylinders by making them more intelligent and, as a result, more versatile. It also allows flexible machine concepts to complete applications in quality monitoring, process control, and other areas.

Other notable features of these continuous position sensors from Wainbee:

  • no actuator modification;
  • five different sizes;
  • yellow teach button for easy setup;
  • M12 connector for IO-Link communication, or M8 connector for analog version;
  • IP67-rated design suitable for any industrial application;
  • one-millisecond sampling rate;
  • 0.03 per cent full-scale resolution;
  • 0.06 per cent full-scale repeatability; and
  • 0.3-millimetre linearity error.

The CPS works by detecting the position of an actuator with the magnet on the piston. The user can easily adjust the sensor settings during installation with the yellow teach button, or during operation through IO-Link. This makes the pneumatic actuator more versatile and intelligent in compliance with the Industry 4.0 initiative.

The Parker CPS requires a magnetic piston and will fit any T-slot cylinder with no additional mounting hardware needed. It can be used on a round body, tie-rod, or S-slot cylinder with the appropriate bracket. Installation is a simple three-step process: First, pivot the sensor into the slot; then teach the CPS unit the desired measuring range; and finally, tighten the set screws.
