The new Kimo Polar Vac, available from Chevrier

Chevrier Instruments distributes many high-quality measuring tools produced by Kimo Instruments. One of the newest Kimo products available in Canada is the Polar Vac smart wireless vacuum probe, used to measure vacuum in a refrigeration system, configure vacuum target value and determine the temperature of water evaporation.

All the key features

The Polar Vac is a measuring device that connects to an app for reading data on any tablet or Smartphone gadget. It includes a high-accuracy sensor from Pirani, a dual-valve system for measuring vacuums and evacuating refrigerant, and built-in cores for easy refrigerant charging. Its light and curved design makes it easy to plug into all kinds of facilities, and its overmoulding allows for easy handling. It also has a measuring range of five to 25,000 microns.

The Polar App has a clear interface that is easy to read in any condition, in tables and graphic visualizations. It enables the user to create measurement reports, with images as an option, and to export reports in PDF, CSV or XML formats. Data logging and chronometer functions are also possible.

Other manifold features of the Polar Vac include heating and cooling functions, real-time calculation of superheat and subcooling, configuration of superheat and subcooling target values and 125 refrigerant gases.

This is a lightweight, easy-to-use device, weighing only 136 grams and measuring 161 by 74 by 34 millimetres. It requires a power supply of only three alkaline AAA 1.5 V batteries and can last up to 250 hours without battery replacement (presuming one measurement per three seconds at 20 degrees Celsius). It uses Class 1 low-energy Bluetooth 4.2, with a range of up to 30 metres depending on the radio strength of the tablet or Smartphone.
