Festo’s new DHPC parallel gripper is interchangeable with competitive grippers and offers the added benefits of smaller size, higher grip force, long service life, and improved precision.

Last week, three new styles of grippers became available from Festo Canada. The manufacturer launched a new generation of competitively priced grippers from recently completed production lines: the DHPC parallel gripper, the DHWC angled gripper, and the DHRC radial gripper – the most compact designs of grippers yet from the company.

The DHPC, DHWC, and DHRC are interchangeable with competing grippers and provide numerous benefits for precision electronics and small-parts assembly.

Longer service life, higher precision

All three grippers offer the extra advantages of smaller size, higher grip force, longer service life, and higher precision. These gripper models are designed for the smaller-footprint machines of modern industry and give wide latitude in mounting options for machine builders and end-use customers, as well as both T- and C-slots for sensors. Each product has three air-supply location options, two extra finger designs, and long stroke and dust cover units. The Festo team has hardened the gripper fingers for long wear and low deformation, and the positioning pin holes make sure replacement grippers are mounted in the exact position of the gripper that it replaces. Double-acting, single-acting, normally open, and normally closed variations are available.

The DHPC parallel gripper provides less than or equal to 1/100 of a millimetre in repetition accuracy, and the most common sizes of this model are in stock and ready for delivery. Other benefits include a resilient and precise ball guide, suitability for external and internal gripping, a broad range of mounting and attachment options, and sustainability in production because of less material use.

Both the DHWC and DHRC models offer less than or equal to 1/5 of a millimetre in accuracy. The DHWC angle gripper is recommended especially for small-parts handling and offers low dead weight. Other benefits include lateral gripper jaw support for high torque loads, maximum repetition accuracy, and a variety of options for mounting on actuator units. The DHRC radial gripper has many similar advantages to those of the DHWC. All three grippers work in a Festo ecosystem with less engineering overhead, faster time to market, and seamless connectivity.
