The PMX Modular Amplifier System is a new data acquisition and control system available from Durham Instruments. The highly efficient system, designed for use in production control and industrial test benches, is known for its strong performance, reliable operation and accuracy, and comes complete with many best-in-class features. 

System capabilities and advantages

PMX enables professional and precise acquisition of force, torque, vibration, pressure, strain, temperature, voltage, current and more. It is the ideal solution for use in modern production plants because it supports real-time communication via Industrial Ethernet (EtherCAT, Profinet, Profibus, etc.). It also features a modern browser-based software solution, which is easy and intuitive to use, and comes complete with a comprehensive program library, numerous available drivers and API interfaces for maximum expandability and transparency. It has the capability to process the signal internally and transfer this in real-time to the customer’s automation system, and can also identify transducers automatically thanks to the integrated TEDS system — a dynamic plug and measurement technology, which ensures efficient production. 

In addition, the system features 16 measuring channels and 32 calculating channels, all of which are rated with 19,200 samples per second. PMX as a whole is rated up to 400,000 values per second.

Flexible plug-in cards ensure scalability, and allow users to connect different PMX modules to each other, increasing the number of channels. In fact, up to 300 measurement channels and 600 mathematical calculation channels can be integrated.

Ideal applications

PMX is suitable for a variety of applications, including press and printing processes, monitoring of machines, industrial test benches and end-of-line test stands.

For example, in production processes, the system offers high accuracy when acquiring measurement data. Its superior sampling rate (19.2kHz) means users will experience considerable efficiencies, great precision and optimal quality assurance.
