Miniature instruments by MINCO come in various sizes and designs

MINCO miniature instruments are available in Canada via Mod-Tronic.

MINCO manufactures an enormous range of test and measurement devices that are available to Canadian businesses through Mod-Tronic Instruments Ltd., the world’s largest MINCO stocking distributor. The lineup includes a wide selection of miniature bearing embedment RTDs and thermocouples, as well as related products. They are available in four case styles.

These miniature devices are small, rugged sensing instruments that can be installed in babbited bearings for early warning of overheating.

Single and dual elements

The options available include single and dual elements, general-purpose or non-sparking models, and bolt-on surface RTDs. Sizes run from two to 7.6 millimetres, and over-braid lead wires come in Teflon, polyimide, or stainless steel. The following three types of miniature bearing embedment RTDs and thermocouples are available in Canada via Mod-Tronic:

• ATEX-approved bearing embedment sensors – non-sparking embedment sensors that are designed for monitoring the temperatures of thrust bearings, with four case styles that offer a wide variety of installation choices. These are certified for use in Zone 2, Group IIC hazardous areas.
• Bearing embedment sensors – miniature sensors that users can install in or beneath the babbitt layer of bearing shoes, to monitor metal temperature and provide early warning of oil film breakdown. While they are smaller than most bare ceramic elements, bearing embedment RTDs have metal cases and insulated leads to withstand touch working environments.
• IECEx-approved bearing embedment sensors – immersion sensors with stainless steel thermowells for inserting right into liquid streams, with sensing probes that users can remove without breaking the fluid seals. Brass thermowells also available.

Mod-Tronic also carries related MINCO products, especially feedthroughs, oil seals, and elastomer-filled cable and extension wire. The oil seal feedthrough cable option offers an oil-tight seal where a cable exits machine housing, preventing oil wicking inside wires and leaks around wire insulation. The oil seal elastomer-filled cable option is a sensor cable with a fill that extends along the whole cable length.

Lead wire and cable oil seal fittings are also available, to stop oil wicking with bearing sensors in rotating equipment, plus bolt-on RTD sensors designed for simple installation in industrial environments.
