REDWIRE MicroStrain inertial sensors set the bar with versatile parameters, extensive output options

Various MicroStrain intertial sensors are available.

Hoskin Scientific Ltd. is proud to provide HBK’s MicroStrain brand of measurement instruments to the Canadian industrial market, including numerous models of MicroStrain inertial sensors. These devices repeatedly out-perform similar solutions from competing manufacturers and suppliers in real-world dynamic working conditions, while offering the top price/performance value across applications.

For more than 25 years, this interchangeable line of MicroStrain inertial sensors has set the standard for industrial MEMS inertial performance.

Industrial-grade and tactical-grade options available

Several distinct groups of MicroStrain inertial sensors are available – the GNSS/INS, RTK, GNSS/AHRS, AHRS, VRU, and IMU series. The entire product family comprises many industrial-grade and tactical-grade options along with various measuring features. The GNSS/AHRS line, for example, consists of only one model – the MicroStrain 3DM-GX5-GNSS/AHRS, a high-performance industrial-grade unit that includes a magnetometer, gyroscope, and accelerometer, plus all AHRS and GNSS outputs.

The GNSS/INS series comprises four models, two tactical-grade and two high-performance industrial-grade ones, all with the same measurement capabilities as in the GNSS/AHRS line, but with position, velocity, and attitude outputs too. Hoskin also carries the MicroStrain 3DM-RTK model, a high-performance industrial-grade sensor that uses the SensorCloud network RTK service; this instrument includes 3DM-GQ7 capability and an RTCM output.

Customers can choose from three product options in the AHRS series: two high-performance attitude reference sensors and an industrial-grade attitude reference sensor. Each is equipped with a magnetometer, gyroscope, and accelerometer and all AR outputs plus Heading. The IMU line consists of three industrial-grade sensors, two of them high-performance, each with a gyroscope and accelerometer and with acceleration and angular-rate outputs. An IMU, or inertial measurement unit, is an instrument that integrates multi-axes, accelerometers, gyroscopes, and other sensors to estimate an object’s orientation in space. Typical data outputs include measurement of acceleration, angular rate, and attitude.

Finally, the MicroStrain VRU series of inertial sensors includes two industrial tilt and angular-rate sensors, two high-performance tilt/vertical reference sensors, and an industrial tilt and rate sensor. The two angular-rate models are industrial-grade instruments, each with a gyroscope and accelerometer, as well as all IMU outputs, plus pitch and roll inclination.
