The Endress+Hauser iTherm TrustSens, the world’s only self-calibrating thermometer, is better than ever. It now comes with explosion protection and optional wireless and cloud connectivity, and can function according to spec in process temperatures up to 190ºC.

Endress+Hauser Canada Ltd. has launched upgraded versions of its iTHERM TrustSens TM371 and TH372 self-calibrating RTD thermometers – Generation 2.0. These instruments have new smart and safe features for extra convenience and added roles in the life-science and food-processing industries, like a wider operating temperature range, explosion protection, and wireless connectivity.

Along with Bluetooth and WirelessHeart capabilities, another benefit of these improved TrustSens devices is potential integration with the manufacturer’s cloud-based Industry 4.0 ecosystem, Netilion.

Easier access to calibration information

Users get potential new applications for the TM371 and TH372, due to a standard temperature range from -40 to 160 degrees Celsius (and up to 190 degrees as an option) and explosion protection. Examples include monitoring of edible oils and UHT milk or baking and frying processes. Certification for Exia/IS qualifies these instruments for dust and gas applications such as grain, flour, or pet-food storage, monitoring production of milk powder and alcohol, sterile filling, and ethylene-oxide sterilization.

Bluetooth or Wireless/HART connectivity results in easier access to calibration information and device configuration parameters in the field, with no unplugging or dismounting of the device required. This leads to quicker access to the instrument’s diagnostic and process data generated by Heartbeat Technology for optimizing processes and general facility performance. Some plants have hundreds of thermometers, sometimes in difficult-to-access places, so there are notable time and cost advantages of reaching this info on a Smartphone or tablet from safe distances. Endress+Hauser’s Netilion integration allows users to conduct this monitoring 24/7, centrally and even remotely.

With the imperial iTHERM TrustSens TH372 and its metric equivalent, the TM371, businesses get continuous, traceable monitoring with their fully automated inline self-calibration function, with no process interruption – leading to high product safety, higher facility availability, and lower risk and expense. These instruments are especially recommended for users needing absolute compliance with international regulatory requirements.

Finally, these upgraded devices always offer audit-compliant calibration info for full documentation. Users can produce a valid calibration certificate automatically with one click. With this and more, iTHERM TrustSens instruments are future-proofed and ready for the Industrial Internet of Things.
