Portable magnetic drills by Hougen

Hougen Manufacturing’s power drills are available from Dobco Equipment Ltd. This includes the manufacturer’s selection of portable magnetic drills, of which Hougen has remained a major producer for more than 50 years – crafting them with high reliability and performance at its Swartz Creek, MI plant. Many industrial markets depend on these portable mag drills; examples include steel fabrication, construction, bridge rebuilding, mining, shipbuilding, transportation, oil and gas, welding shops, power utilities, mobile repair shops, and machinery riggers.

No more moving large pipes

Portable mag drills, also referred to as portable base drills or portable drill presses, are specialized power tools that create holes in metal, especially steel, and they can be operated in shops or on worksites. Manoeuvring large steel pipes into position at a stationary drill press or work centre can be a time-consuming, cumbersome process. But a Hougen portable device allows the user to take the drill to the work piece rather than try to do vice-versa. Another major benefit of these power tools is that they are usable in any position: vertical, horizontal, and even upside-down.

Dobco carries the following models of Hougen portable magnetic drills:

  • HMD 130 Ultra Low Profile – for the tightest spots, with a pilot light. Weighs 10.8 kilograms (kg); height of 170 millimetres (mm); maximum cutter diameter of 35 mm; maximum cut depth of 25 mm.
