Asphalt transfer hoses are common in road work.
Sudbury International Engineered Products Limited carries hosing solutions by Hose Master, including hoses for transferring tar and asphalt in road and bridge work. Because of fume exposure, this is a hazardous application. Hose Master manufactures innovative products for this field, and its hosing experts offer tips on how to choose the appropriate asphalt transfer hose. Rubber and metal units are available from Hose Master for asphalt transfer, but customers should take certain limits into consideration.
Interlocked or corrugated styles
Rubber hoses are popular for this application, as they are made from elastomers that resist the media and are usually rated to a maximum working pressure of 150 pounds per square inch and a maximum temperature of 150-175 degrees Celsius. Hose Master rubber hoses from Sudbury International are cost-effective, but customers should consider the following aspects prior to selecting one for tar or asphalt transfer:
Hose Master metal tar and asphalt hoses are available in two styles from Sudbury International: interlocked or corrugated. Also referred to as stripwound hoses, interlocked units must be handled properly to avoid damage. They are durable and weather-resistant, but may leak if twisted; they should not be used for less viscous media for the same reason. These hoses must be drained thoroughly after every use.
Corrugated metal hosing for tar/asphalt transfer are gas-tight, resist weathering and high temperatures, and offer positive fitting retention. But the corrugations allow media to collect in the hose, which can harden following cool-down and damage the hose when it is flexed. Storing these hoses in heated cabinets is recommended if feasible, to stop media hardening.
Trust Hose Master for safe, efficient asphalt/tar transfer.
