Festo stainless steel cylinders are now equipped with extra features

CRDSNU cylinders from Festo now have added options.

Among Festo Canada’s most popular industrial products is its CRDSNU stainless steel cylinder series, which is ideal for use in resource extraction and in applications in food processing, chemicals, packaging, and the medical sector, in which frequent cleaning is required. Now, the manufacturer has improved this line of round, pneumatic cylinders with new features and options.

For example, Festo has added such options such as self-adjusting cushioning and a dry running seal. The dry running seal enables the cylinder to function reliably, even when intensive cleaning has washed off its food-grade lubricant film from the piston rod surface. The seal is resistant to even the most aggressive media. In addition, the cylinder has a two-part split bearing cap that enables quick, easy installation of a replacement dry running seal or hard scraper, with no need to de-install the cylinder.

Festo’s CRDSNU cylinders are designed to comply with the ISO 6432 standard, as well as “Clean Design” criteria, which makes them easy to clean.

New variants and installation possibilities

Among the new features are variants and installation possibilities that allow for longer life and contaminant-free operation, such as variants with threadless front mounting to prevent contamination. Self-adjusting cushioning reduces the chances of contamination by eliminating the need for an adjusting screw. There are low-temperature and heat-resistant versions, a range of piston rod setups (through piston rod, extended piston-rod thread, and rods with female or special thread), and different mounting options for every application.

Festo constructs every CRDSNU stainless steel cylinder from 1.4301- and 1.4401-grade high-alloy steel, which is very corrosion-resistant and protects the cylinder from chemical or electrochemical stress and surface damage by detergent. Other advantages include lubrication and basic seals that comply with the standards of the United States Food and Drug Administration, and three types of wiper variants.
