explosion-proof inclinometers

POSITAL explosion-proof TILTIX inclinometers are suitable for use in mines, oil and gas facilities, agricultural applications, chemical plants, woodworking factories and milling operations.

POSITAL-Fraba has added a new member to its TILTIX family of tilt sensors: a line of explosion-proof inclinometers. These units are designed and built to function safely in work environments that have potentially hazardous levels of explosive dust or gas. Fully compliant with the strict IECEx and ATEX safety standards, these instruments are recommended for use in such industries as mining, oil and gas, agriculture, chemicals, woodworking, and milling.

Single- or dual-axis models

The new TILTIX models have been evaluated carefully to make sure that they have no hotspots or exposed electrical components that might ignite fires or trigger explosions when in contact with flammable gases or dust. POSITAL has had these explosion-proof inclinometers certified for use in mines and other underground work environments (Group I, Ex I M2 Ex e mb I Mb) as well as workplaces above ground (Group II, EX II 2G Ex e mb IIc TX Gb – explosive gases – and EX II 1D Ex ta IIIC TX Da IP65 – flammable dust).

As with other TILTIX inclinometers available from POSITAL, this new series is available in single- (0-360 degrees) or dual-axis (plus or minus 80 degrees) models, and the resolution goes as high as 0.01 degrees. The accuracy is up to plus or minus 0.1 degrees. The available communications interfaces include DeviceNet, CANopen, Modbus RTU, SSI, and analog output. User can program analog models so that the full range of electrical output is set to span a predetermined range of mechanical motion, which can improve control-system accuracy substantially. Rugged aluminum or 316 stainless steel housings are available, and POSITAL offers other materials by special order. The environmental protection ratings of these housings range up to IP67.

Customers can find the right explosion-proof inclinometers for their respective applications through the product-finder tool on POSITAL’s website. This tool allows specification of product features to suit a specific project, so the user can zero in on the most suitable model. Through the “Minimum Order Quantity: One”/MOQ1 manufacturing system, the company can assemble and ship products in mere days, no matter what their special features are.
