The Model 9207 Ultrasonic Leak Detector by EXAIR

Businesses across North America have access to an unsurpassed selection of compressed-air solutions by EXAIR LLC, like the Ultrasonic Leak Detector, or ULD. This is a handheld device developed to help users locate the sources of costly leaks in compressed-air systems, which is a significant boon for energy conservation.

Now, the EXAIR team has upgraded the Ultrasonic Leak Detector in look and function, making it even better for saving compressed air.

Heightened ability to detect leaks

The newly improved ULD, Model 9207, offers a heightened ability to detect leaks in hard-to-reach areas while still complying with the IEC 61326-1 standard – which designates its capability of operating in the typical electromagnetic environments that are frequently found in industrial facilities. In addition, this new model from EXAIR meets the standards of the European CE safety designation and comes with a hard-shell plastic case, headphones, a parabola, a tubular adaptor, a tubular extension, and AA batteries.

As much as 30 per cent of the compressed air that industrial plants generate gets wasted through leaks that go unnoticed, and this costs a great deal of money. The ULD helps companies to identify and pinpoint these leaks, resulting in fast repair and saved costs. Users can test the different unions, pipes, valves, and fittings of a complete installation, quickly and effectively, at distances up to 6.1 metres away.

High-pressure gases create high-frequency turbulence when they move into an area with lower pressure, resulting in an ultrasonic sound, or “white noise”, that is beyond the ability of human ears to hear. The ULD can detect these vibrations, creating an audible noise through supplied headphones and also indicating intensity through a front-facing LED display as it moves closer to the origin of the leak. Users can use the “+” and “-” buttons to adjust the ULD to filter out background noise in busier facilities for fine-tuning sensitivity.

Prices for the new Model 9207 start at US$795.

Observing its 40th anniversary this year, EXAIR designs and manufactures a wide range of compressed-air solutions at its Cincinnati plant. Examples include vacuum conveyors, generators, cabinet coolers, and static eliminators.
