Promass Q and F Coriolis flowmeters are approved.

Endress+Hauser Canada Ltd. has achieved Measurement Canada authorization for use of its full lineup of Proline Promass Q and Promass F Coriolis flowmeters in custody transfer. This status covers Promass Q and F instruments with bore sizes of up to 10 inches, including the DN150, DN200, and DN250 models.

This development opens doors in industries like oil and gas, petrochemicals, and food processing to benefit from these devices as custody-transfer flowmeters, especially the Promass Q.

Quicker bulk commodity transfers

The new generation of Promass Q meters was launched last year, with revolutionary four-tube technology, plus three large-bore sizes added in the process. These flowmeters were designed for demanding applications like measuring fluids with entrained gas. Four-tube technology enables higher flow rates (by up to 25 per cent) than those of two-tube Coriolis flowmeters with the same nominal pipe size, enabling quicker bulk commodity transfers with potential cost savings from faster turnaround of tank trucks, railway tank cars, and ocean tankers in port. This technology also begets substantially lower pressure, which reduces flow rates when using two-tube Coriolis meters.

Promass Q sensors offer unsurpassed measuring performance from a custody-transfer standpoint, with gases and fluids other than water with best-in-class measurement accuracy, density-measurement accuracy, turndown, and zero-point stability.

The unmatched zero-point stability of the Promass Q assures the highest accuracy and dependability in custody transfer. Zero-point stability indicates the extent to which the measured values a Coriolis flowmeter displays can change over time, compared to the true flow values. The four-tube system ensures consistently small deviation from the zero point, and the meter uses a unique, multi-frequency technology that measures liquid with entrained gas with unprecedented precision; this also contributes to that higher zero-point stability.

The Promass F series is a proven reliable option for custody transfer that does not require the Promass Q’s enhanced capabilities, with consistent, premium accuracy and robustness under changing, challenging process conditions. The Measurement Canada approval covers all Promass F sizes for gas now, in addition to fluids besides water. Endress+Hauser’s own Heartbeat Technology adds extra measurement confidence in both Promass series.
