Endress+Hauser's new generation of Micropilot 80-GHz radar sensors is simpler, more efficient, and operationally safer in every respect.

The latest innovation from Endress+Hauser Canada Ltd. is a new generation of Micropilot 80-gigahertz radar sensors. These solutions boost safety and productivity in one easy-to-use measuring device, with various capabilities and features that make the instrument simple to locate, install, commission, and monitor according to the user’s individual circumstances.

Comprising five models (the FMR60B, FMR62B, FMR63B, FMR66B, and FMR67B), the upgraded Micropilot units are simpler, more efficient, and operationally safer in every way.

Useful in confined installation applications

These next-generation radar sensors are designed to meet such challenges as measuring points that are hard to access or dusty environments, and their compact design makes them useful in confined installation applications. Endress+Hauser offers models suitable for challenging process conditions like aggressive media and extreme process temperatures.

The new Micropilot radar chip offers exceptional measurement performance when combined with the manufacturer’s smart Heartbeat Technology monitoring function, helping to boost productivity and prevent unnecessary downtime. Integrated digital assistants operated by the Endress+Hauser SmartBlue app make these sensors easier to operate. The sensors also provide a choice between innovative communication technologies like Ethernet-APL, apart from standard digital communication protocols such as HART or Profibus.

Commission and operation are straightforward and intuitive: the integrated assistants guide the user through the process, including parameter configuration and subsequent proof testing, which eliminates errors and enables operation of the sensor with minimal training required. A convenient Bluetooth interface allows users to control the devices remotely through the SmartBlue app. One can therefore monitor processes constantly in conjunction with Heartbeat Technology, performing device verification in less than three minutes while the process runs.

Maintenance is also simpler with these new Micropilot sensors. The HistoROM mobile-data memory allows transference of measuring-point parameters to the new sensor without error when electronics are replaced. The device is quickly and smoothly repaired, with no need for specialized user knowledge.

Another key advantage: The new Micropilot devices meet all safety standards, developed according to IEC 61508 with the manufacturer’s 20 years of SIL expertise. This takes care of systematic or operating errors and process anomalies that threaten plant safety.
