Two variants of the FieldPort SWA50 Intelligent Bluetooth and/or WirelessHART adapter for any HART field device

The next generation of wireless communications technology is now available from Endress+Hauser Canada Ltd. for HART field devices. Unleashing the full potential of these instruments, these updated wireless solutions offer the most flexible and cost-efficient means for customers to get full, extended HART process and diagnostic data, even remotely.

Easy to install, this new technology provides many flexible networking opportunities, both simple and elaborate, through the SWA50 FieldPort adapter and SWG50 FieldGate gateway.

No-fuss strategy for plant digitization

Designed for facilities constrained by 4-20-mA analog communications, this technology allows users to access HART information even by linking field devices wirelessly to a distributed control system (DCS) or the cloud, enabling a cost-efficient, no-fuss strategy for plant digitization. Analog networks still in wide use allow operators to visualize basic process data, but little else, and they do not show extended HART data on field instruments’ visual displays.

By adding wireless transmission ability to field devices, Endress+Hauser allows workers to visualize extended HART data without replacing the current infrastructure. This information can offer early warnings of anomalies and pinpoint the locations while accurately identifying the sources. This helps to minimize unexpected downtime, influence a predictive-maintenance strategy, or maximize productivity.

The SWA50 is an extremely compact, loop-powered solution that coverts the signals of two- and four-wire HART field sensors into a dependable, encrypted Bluetooth or WirelessHART signal. The device is an easy retrofit that users can install right on a HART device or any nearby two- or four-wire 4-20-mA cable linking that sensor to a DCS. The WirelessHART signal has a range of 200 m and Bluetooth range of 40 m.

Meanwhile, the SWG50 can be hardwired to a DCS or an edge device to send all data to Netilion. From those high-level systems, every wirelessly enabled field device in a plant can be centrally monitored, and Netilion can also be linked to the facility’s own cloud solution. Netilion offers such analytical and diagnostic tools as Netilion Health, a straightforward means of monitoring the performance of all field devices, whether manufactured by Endress+Hauser or by third parties.
