Endress+Hauser helps wastewater plant maintain water analyzers

An Indian wastewater-treatment plant benefited from collaboration with Endress+Hauser.

Although renowned as a major producer of measurement instrumentation, Endress+Hauser also serves as a partner for businesses conducting relevant major projects. One key example involved a large Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) agreement in India for water analyzers at a wastewater treatment plant. Endress+Hauser achieved another success story with its involvement in this undertaking – not only design, supply, and installation of analyzers, but also maintenance management.

Safer drinking water and more

This EPC, the largest in India, required not only water analyzers for the plant, but also a strict maintenance-management plan. The EPC had been awarded a contract for complete operation of this state-owned, 380-millilitre-per-day plant, located a densely populated city. A partner was needed to manage 227 water-quality analyzers over 22 locations; there was no real-time water-quality monitoring, and with the number of locations, analyzers could be checked only randomly. In addition to technical expertise, this partner also needed 100 per cent availability and accurate measurements over time.

For the solution, the EPC turned to Endress+Hauser, which signed an 11-year comprehensive annual maintenance contract. The contract included a preventative-maintenance schedule, covering monthly planned visits for every location, plus daily maintenance of analyzer panels, management of spares and consumables stock onsite, management of service provides for associated accessories of panels, assemblies, and pumps, and more.

Endress+Hauser assembled a team of three service technicians to meet the ambitious goals of the project, and a coordinator from the company supervised the team to ensure close contact with the customer and direct access of daily activities. A dedicated contract manager made sure that customer needs were met during the project.

• safer drinking water, resulting from constant quality measurement at critical locations;

• accurate readings from all water analyzers at all locations, 24/7; and
