Endress+Hauser expands horizons: Angenstein acquisition fuels growth with integration into French production site

Endress+Hauser intends to acquire Angenstein ESTECH AG and its production site in France. The company is a key supplier for measuring tubes.

Angenstein ESTECH AG is a major manufacturer of measuring tubes for flowmeters, and Endress+Hauser Canada Ltd. supplies them to businesses in this country. The supplier’s Swiss parent company, The Endress+Hauser Group, has announced plans to acquire Angenstein, integrating itself with the producer’s French production site.

By taking over Angenstein’s location in Cernay, France, Endress+Hauser expects to safeguard jobs while providing good prospects for the facility’s employees.

New memorandum of understanding

Endress+Hauser has already incorporated the Cernay site, ESTECH Industries Angenstein SA, succursale de Cernay, and its approximately 50 employees into its operation. Representatives of Angenstein and Endress+Hauser have signed a new memorandum of understanding, and all Angenstein worksites are to be retained. Endress+Hauser expects to retain the workers’ knowledge while integrating crucial work stages even more deeply into its production processes.

The Wiese and Helfenstein families, who own Angenstein, have been focusing on preserving jobs and securing the company’s future. They cite the Endress+Hauser acquisition as the best possible preservation solution and the perfect succession plan for their company.

Both companies intend to draw up and sign a purchase agreement by the end of September, according to the memorandum of understanding, with the official business transfer to become effective as of next Jan. 1. The acquisition will not affect Angenstein’s main operations in Aesch, Switzerland, which will remain part of The ESTECH Group under the name ESTECH Industries Angenstein AG; this main branch supplies Endress+Hauser Flow solutions in Reinach.

For more than 30 years, Endress+Hauser has been supplying flow-measurement instruments in Cernay. Repeatedly expanded over the years, the Cernay site currently employs more than 500 workers and specializes in supplying electromagnetic, ultrasonic, and vortex flowmeters to the European industrial market. The Cernay worksite will continue to expand over the next couple of years, as the French sales centre – currently located in Huningue – is also expected to move into a new facility on the company campus in Cernay by 2026.
