NK makes seven types of ground-fault sensors.

Mod-Tronic Instruments Ltd. carries a broad selection of test and measurement solutions by NK Technologies, a leading manufacturer of current devices for the industrial and factory automation sectors. NK makes four types of current sensors – including seven series of ground-fault sensors, six with AC input and one with DC input.

Like all NK products, this extensive family of ground-fault sensors is designed to add value and to meet or exceed businesses’ performance expectations.

Built for grounded AC systems

Current sensors are instruments that detect electric current in wires and then generate signals proportional to the current. Also known as ground-fault detectors, ground-fault sensors help protect employees, products, and manufacturing processes from damage that can result from ground-fault conditions. Available to Canadian customers via Mod-Tronic, NK’s line of ground-fault sensors is built to function on grounded AC power systems, as good design practice and code demand the grounding of all AC power systems.

The following seven series of ground-fault sensors are available from Mod-Tronic’s inventory:

  • AG series. The AG1, AG2, and AG3 models monitor all current-carrying conductors in grounded single- and three-phase delta or wye systems.
  • AGT series. This group blends a current transformer and a True RMS signal conditioner into one package. NEC requirements for alarm can be met when the unit is connected to a controller or data logger.
  • AGT-FD series. For detecting earth faults from zero to 100 mA, while producing an output signal of zero-to-10 VDC in proportion to the level of current passing to ground. Analog output.
  • DG series. For keeping equipment and its operators safe from accidental shock. The one-piece, solid-core design enables installation over wires feeding loads to approximately 50 amps. Distinguished by its DC input.
  • AGL series. Large-aperture relays that provide among the largest aperture diameters on the market, while maintaining a compact general profile.
  • AGLD series. With digital display. Users can set a delay to allow downstream protection to activate before the sensor does, keeping main circuit protection hot and equipment energized while clearing smaller faults.
  • AG-LC series. Designed specifically for marinas, boat yards, or large equipment.
