DMM offers digital durometer sales and calibration

Shimana’s high-quality digital durometers are ergonomically designed to give exact hardness readings without any errors. Available in Shore A (SHPMDR176), Shore D (SHPMDR187) and Shore OO (SHPMDR212), the digital hardness testers provide accurate and repeatable hardness measurement of rubber, plastic, foam and other elastomers in a wide variety of applications.

The durometers conform to ASTM D-2240-05, GB/T-531.1-2008/ISO7619-1:2004 standards, and feature a large, easy-to-read LCD display with backlight. Additional features include adjustable dwell time, a test counter that displays the number of tests performed, and a digital display that gives exact reading with no guessing or errors. The durometers also provide statistics, including averaging mode, max mode, maximum average mode and peak difference. Plus, they are battery operated with 25 hours of battery life, which gives them portability, and they have automatic power off to conserve power.

In addition to test block kits, stands are also available. The company highly recommends that an operating stand be employed when performing durometer hardness tests.

Shimana digital durometers and stands are available from Digital Measurement Metrology (DMM). The Brampton, Ont-based company also offers calibration services for the durometers.

“While this gauge has passed a quality control check, having a calibration certificate for durometers might be required by your quality control system,” the company explains. 

DMM’s calibration lab has one of the most comprehensive ISO 17025 accredited calibration scopes in Canada. It can also provide customers with an ISO, NIST traceable calibration certificate.
