pipeline coatings

Protal liquid pipeline coatings by Denso cure quickly and have high build.

Denso North America remains Canada’s top source for anti-corrosion and sealing solutions for pipelines. The company’s wide portfolio includes the Protal brand of liquid pipeline coatings. These coatings are renowned in the industry for their quick curing, simple application, and ability to provide years of protection.

Protal pipeline coatings also benefit users with high build, excellent adhesion, high abrasion resistance in drilling applications, and environmental responsibility.

Applicable by hand or spray

These liquid coatings are easy to apply by either hand or spray and in high- or low-temperature environments. Denso’s lineup of Protal products includes a full range of fast-cure epoxies for anti-corrosion protection both above and below ground. The coatings also work very well for protecting girth welds, tie-ins, cadwells, fittings, fabrications, FBE repairs, and rehabilitation of existing pipelines.

Protal pipeline coatings include the following products:

  • Protal 7200. For onsite protection of girth welds, tie-ins, welds for boring applications, FBE repairs, push-rack applications, station piping, fittings, and fabrications. Also works for mainline coating, sacrificial coating for directional drills and road bore pipes, and rehabilitating existing pipelines. This is a VOC-free, 100 per cent solids, two-part epoxy coating that is designed specifically to complement FBE-coated pipes. Users apply this high-build coating with a brush or spray in one coat in the field or a shop. The quick curing enables faster handling and shorter back-fill times.
  • Protal 7125. A coating specially made for rehabilitation of low-temperature, in-service operating pipelines, as well as station piping, girth welds, tie-ins, push racks in laybarge applications, FBE-fitting repairs, and fabrication.
  • Protal 7900HT. A high-temperature coating, applied by spray or hand to pipelines operating at temperatures up to 121 degrees Celsius. Also good for girth welds, pipe, fittings, valves, and fabrication.
  • Protal ST epoxy mastic. A surface-tolerant liquid coating used when steel grit blasting is impossible. Can be applied alone or with other topcoats for long-term exposure to water on structural steel, pipe externals, pipe racks, tanks, offshore platforms, locks, gates, and bridges.
