Daemar has served Canadian industry for more than 40 years.

Daemar Inc. celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2013, and the company remains a leading Canadian distributor of essential components for a wide variety of industries, from aerospace and oil and gas to construction, pulp and paper, and food and beverage processing.

Every great company has to start somewhere, and Daemar is no exception. For decades, this entity has grown from a small southern Ontario operation to a company with a versatile line of products and services for many major sectors.

From Cartec to Daemar

It all began on Jan. 1, 1973, with the establishment of a distribution company named Cartec in Oakville, Ont. Cartec had three main product lines: retaining rings from Waldes, metric rings from Seeger, and keysteel from Devan.

Throughout the 1970s, Cartec was successful enough to expand its product list to include Cleveland hardware, KMC stampings, Standard steel, GACO oil seals, and O-rings.

In 1980, the company was ready to expand beyond its roots, and it opened a sales and warehouse facility in Edmonton. Four years later, it launched another branch in the Vancouver area and changed its name to Daemar – Distribution Engineering Marketing.

Expansion continued in 1986, when Daemar opened a sales and warehouse facility in Montreal. That was the same year that it was appointed as the exclusive Canadian distributor for Kalrez and Rotor Clip. By the end of the ’80s, the company had already added mechanical seals to its fluid-sealing line and been named Caplugs’ master distributor for Canada.

Daemar went digital in 1996, when it launched its website, and it would later begin publishing an online catalogue in 2010. 2000 was the year when the company became an international force, opening its first American sales office and warehouse facility in Georgia and founding Daemar Inc. U.S.A.

In touch with its roots

Daemar may have grown substantially since 1973, but it still maintains its headquarters in Oakville. The company has continued to expand, doubling the sizes of its Edmonton and Montreal warehouses in recent years. It continues to push itself to be Canadian industry’s first choice for fluid-sealing and precision-component solutions.
