Thermo-Kinetics Company Limited counts Control Concepts among the manufacturers whose test and measurement solutions it distributes in Canada. One example is the MicroFUSION high-performance digital SCR power controller, a dependable, affordable device designed to adapt to the analog environment as well as the digital environment with a very small footprint.

Available in single-phase and three-phase configurations and with sizes from eight to 400 Amps, this Control Concepts device has the improved performance of a third-generation controller.

With standard or high-performance control

MicroFUSION is available with either standard or high-performance control and includes universal input voltage from 24 to 690 VAC (CE), 24 to 600 VAC (UL), or 45 to 65 hertz. The controller complies with several international safety standards, including UL, cUL, CE, and RoHS. This solution from Thermo-Kinetics uses SCRs with a 20x surge current rating and an over-current trip network, and it has 100kA SCCR certification when the user incorporates it with the appropriate branch-rated Class T fuses – which eliminates the need for semiconductor fuses.

Other key features of the MicroFUSION: easy setup through plug-and-play USB, which enables configuration for zero cross, phase angle, and zero cross into a transformer; digital connectivity offered through Ethernet, PROFINET, PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU and TCP, and EtherCat; and accessibility from outside an enclosure with Control Concepts’ own optional remote display. Available options include panel mount, DIN rail mount, external heatsink, and liquid-cooled heatsink.

Both the single-phase and three-phase variations of the MicroFUSION are available with one of two circuit boards; SX is a less expensive alternative, while HX has CCI Link and is a fully populated board that users can field-upgrade to include re-transmits and other features. Other available options for both include general-purpose input, second analog input channel, alarm relay, remote display, and external, touch-safe Class T fusing. In addition, the three-phase version has four- and six-SCR configurations and can be ordered as Delta Wye, four-wire Wye, and Inside Delta.
