The SINEAX I 538 current transducer by Camille Bauer

Mod-Tronic Instruments Ltd. is Canada’s premier supplier of test and measurement instrumentation by Camille Bauer Metrawatt AG. The manufacturer makes many products under the SINEAX brand, including three models of current transducers. All three of these devices work with AC current, and all have been developed, manufactured, and tested in strict accordance with the ISO 9001 quality-assurance standard. These transducers also fulfill all of the important requirements and regulations regarding electromagnetic compatibility in the EMC and Safety standard.

Self-powered or with power supply

First up is the SINEAX I 538 transducer, which comes with a power supply and P8/35 rail housing. This device converts a sinusoidal AC current into a load-independent DC current or DC voltage that is proportional to the measured value. The measuring input is in sine-wave forms, with measuring-range limits of 0-0.8 to 0-1.2 A or 0-4 to 0-6 A, while the measuring output is unipolar with live zero output variables. The measuring principle is the Rectifier method, and the unit is standard as marine version as per Lloyd’s Register of Shipping. The I 538 is also available with the output signal 4-20 mA in a two-wire connection.

The SINEAX I 542 is self-powered, with two measuring ranges (1/5 A or 1/2.6 A) and the same kind of rail housing as the I 538. This model of current transducers converts a sinusoidal AC current signal into an output signal that can serve several receiving instruments, like indicators, recorders, alarm units, and more. Benefits of this model include reduced wiring expense, low power consumption, and compatibility with smaller CTs. The standard version is per Germanischer Lloyd.

The Camille Bauer SINEAX I 552 line of current transducers is also available from Mod-Tronic. This model comes with a power supply, RMS value measurement with two measuring ranges, and P13/70 rail housing. This unit converts a sinusoidal or distorted AC current into a load-independent DC current or DC voltage that is proportional to the measured value. The measuring principle goes by the Logarithmic method, and the measuring output is unipolar with live zero output variables.
