The BETA/Martel Model DMC-1400 documenting calibrator, available from Chevrier Instruments

Industrial test and measurement devices are the specialty of Chevrier Instruments, and they have been for more than four decades. This Montreal-based distribution company is also a team of experts in device calibration, with a calibration laboratory housed in its own facility. One of the more innovative products that Chevrier supplies is the BETA/Martel Model DMC-1400 documenting calibrator, a handheld instrument that is capable of performing multiple functions.

Everything needed for calibration tasks

The Model DMC-1400 is a highly accurate device that provides all of the functions associated with fixed installation and laboratory instruments. This documenting calibrator has everything a user could possibly need for almost any calibration task. No special software is necessary; the calibrator can document any calibration completely and easily while performing any normal job.

Another advantage of this instrument is its ability to test for pass/fail criteria, as well as to measure and simulate thermocouples, RTDs, current, voltage, frequency, and source pulse trains. The Model DMC-1400 includes a built-in 250-Ohm resistor for HART compatibility with smart transmitters and PLCs, plus full fuseless protection and a serial communications port for full control with ASCII commands.

Other features of this documenting calibrator from Chevrier:

  • Non-volatile memory that can maintain calibration dates for 50 instruments;
  • Ability to print calibration certificates without a personal computer;
  • Communications port that is compatible with BetaPort-P pressure modules;
  • Source modes that the user can program with dedicated set points;
  • Direct entry of custom RTD coefficients (R 0, A, B, and C); and
  • Compliance with CE standards and IEC 1010 safety requirements.

The BETA/Martel Model DMC-1400 also has the highest accuracy in its class, up to 0.015 per cent for each reading. Each instrument can store up to 21 data points and capture both AS FOUND and AS LEFT data.

The DMC-1400 requires one set of four AA batteries and comes with a test lead set, protective rubber boot, nylon carrying case, DVD/CD for video training, printer manual, USV support software, RS232 cable, USB-to-serial adapter, and NIST calibration certificate. Purchase price is $3,375.
