Continental Conveyor offers two lines of belt conveyor idlers.

Continental Conveyor is the source that Canadian industry trusts for a wide range of material-handling equipment, from conveyors, feeders, and bucket elevators to conveyor components. Among the conveyor components available are two lines of belt conveyor idlers, designed and built to provide continuous operation and deal with high capacities and heavy abrasive materials.

The company manufactures two distinct series of conveyor idlers: Series 25000, which comes in three designs; and Series 30000, which comes in a wide array of designs ranging in belt width from 45 to 152 centimetres.

Available with end rolls

Series 30000 belt conveyor idlers from Continental Conveyor are the perfect choice for heavy materials with which the belt width limits the lump size. Variations include flat belt carrying rubber cushion, picking roll, training idlers, and variable troughing idlers, as well as return belt idlers in rubber tread, beater, and training types.

These conveyor idlers are available with end rolls that can furnish them while inclined at 20-, 35-, or 45-degree angles, depending on the volume of material. Rolls of five or six inches are fitted with precision ball bearings. There are also a separate cartridge-type contact and labyrinth grease seal that offer triple bearing protection with neoprene contact members and clearances filled with grease.

Each Series 30000 idler has a counterbored outer shell and stamped end disc that have been swaged to perfect concentricity and welded continuously to create an airtight concentric unit. Before assembly, Continental workers fill the stamping cavity with grease, and the idler’s large diameter enables this grease to move easily to the bearings. This reservoir of grease ensures a long operating life for the component.

The idlers also include through shafts, 20 millimetres in diameter, which have been machined at both ends. The bearings have been factory-adjusted by press-fitting the cartridge seals and bearings into the roll end discs.

Other notable features: heavy gauge steel rolls that have been verified for smooth running; non-jamming end brackets for supporting heavy loads; self-cleaning inverted angle cross members; and non-clogging centre brackets that have been die-formed to close tolerances.
