The Alnor EDT731 balometer capture hood

Alnor test and measurement solutions are available from Chevrier Instruments Inc., such as the EDT731 Balometer capture hood. This multi-purpose electronic air-balancing device is recommended mainly for taking efficient, direct air-volume readings at diffusers and grilles, and it saves time and money by combining multiple measurement tools into one package.

The EBT731 is an ideal option for HVAC applications such as commissioning, system troubleshooting, and system testing and balancing, as well as clean-room certification.

Lightweight and ergonomically designed

This Balometer capture hood is an ultra-lightweight, ergonomically designed solution that provides durable, trouble-free, one-person operation. Users can create healthy, energy-efficient environments while complying with local codes, guidelines, and regulations for ventilation systems. The EBT731 automatically senses and displays supply or return flows, which saves ample work time, and back-pressure compensation ensures the most accurate readings. Multiple hood sizes are available for simple, cost-efficient use in various applications.

The device includes a detachable digital micromanometer that can be used with optional probes for higher flexibility in many measurement tasks. The micromanometer accurately measures pressure, velocity, and flow to help businesses meet industry standards. The auto-zeroing pressure sensor reduces user steps, while automatic density correction boosts reading accuracy and the intuitive menu structure enables easier setup and use.

The large graphic display with backlight provides a user-friendly interface on the micromanometer, which displays up to five measurements at the same time and offers onscreen messages and instructions. Other features: integrated Log-Tchebycheff duct traverse application, which simplifies calculations; Bluetooth communications for transferring information or remote polling; downloading software with USB cable; and accommodation of optional Pitot, airflow, temperature/relative humidity, velocity matric, or thermoanemometer probes for various tasks.

Other items that come with the EBT731 include a 610-by-610-millimetre air capture hood/frame/base, four AA rechargeable NiMH batteries, a multi-country AC adaptor, a 46-centimetre Pitot tube, two static-pressure probes, 4.8 metres of Neoprene tubing, a wheeled luggage-style carrying case, NIST-traceable calibration certification, a USB interface cable, and a manual. Chevrier also carries the Alnor EST731-STA bundle, which includes a stand and a Smart Tablet with the LogDat mobile app for expanded operation.
