York Fluid Controls carries FLUX’s ATEX certified pumps and motors

FLUX ATEX-compliant pumps and motors are available in Canada from York Fluid Controls.

FLUX has been a top pump manufacturer for almost seven decades, since it devised the first electric drum pumps. Today, the company continues to solidify its reputation for safe products with its line of ATEX certified pumps, available in Canada from York Fluid Controls.

As the first German company to produce barrel pumps from its own designs and patents, FLUX now develops ATEX certified pumps according to increasing customer demand.

Usable under hazardous conditions

ATEX certification denotes the pumps meet the “Atmosphères Explosibles” standard of the European Union, meaning they are usable under hazardous conditions. ATEX-compliant pumps are deemed suitable for potentially explosive workplaces, making them suitable for chemical transfer, mine dewatering, food processing, and metal finishing; they are also common in the personal-care industry.

These ATEX certified pumps work by dissipating electrostatic charges in continuous current paths to natural ground, resulting in spark-free operation in work environments where flammable gases, vapours, mist, or dust could cause explosions if oxygen is present.

York Fluid Controls offers four designs of motors for these pumps: Type F 416 Ex, Type F 410-1 Ex, Type F 460 Ex, and Type FBM 4000 Ex. Type F 416 Ex is available in three models – with a trigger-operated valve, without a valve, or with a ball valve. This is a lightweight, overload-proof motor with a powerful design, featuring variable speed control through adjustment of either the air-supply pressure or volume.

The 460 and 460-1 each come with a five-metre power-supply cable and safety plug, as well as an improved ventilation system with optimal cooling. Their robust, double-shell aluminum housing results in a low noise level. Infinitely variable speed control is available, as well as no-volt release to prevent accidental restarts.

The FBM 4000 is the first brushless motor for barrel pumps, plus a five-metre power-supply cable, safety plug, combined on/off switch, easy-to-use controller, and electronic monitoring of speed, voltage, and temperature. This motor is ideal for continuous or intermittent use, or for precise dispensing applications.

These motors have all been tested and approved for Zone 1 environments.
