Workstation crane optimizes supplier’s order building process

It’s no surprise, then, that when an international specialty cheese supplier required a palletizing solution in its warehouse to optimize its order building process, the company selected ELS to tackle the job. 

The challenge

During order building, palletized boxes are removed from racking using fork trucks and transported to a central work area. Typically, the process requires picking from multiple pallets of product onto empty pallets according to a shipping order. The customer needed a solution that could handle boxes weighing up to 40 kilograms. Manual handling of boxes was not an option since box weights were beyond recommended guidelines, while utilizing fork trucks to handle boxes was cumbersome and inefficient. 

The solution 

The cheese supplier chose a freestanding Gorbel workstation crane with an Anver vacuum tube — a lifting system supplied by ELS. The easily installed modular floor-mounted workstation crane was a good fit for the warehouse layout and offered superior load positioning that did not require any sway bracing. The bridge-mounted, two-pad Anver vacuum tube lifter with fixed control handle provides a 17-feet by 28-feet lifting coverage area, allowing one operator to palletize in an efficient and ergonomically friendly manner.
