The facility holds an unmatched selection of screw-machine and CNC equipment for making custom metal parts, and the range expands as L. & M. keeps investing in new machines each year. Another vital ingredient is trained personnel with expertise in these machines, not just to operate them, but also to maintain and repair them. All equipment is kept in peak condition; any machine not working optimally is immediately repaired or replaced.

The company owns two categories of screw-machine equipment:

• First-operation screw machines. More than 70 machines can handle large- and small-volume orders of components, regardless of complexity. Examples include an extensive group of CNC equipment with “Y” axis capability and capacities of up to 60 millimetres, Davenport and Wickman multi-spindle machines capacities of up to 1¾ inches, rotary-transfer Hydromat equipment with capacities of up to 45 millimetres, and single-spindle Brown and Sharpe machines with capacities of up to 2-3/8 inches.
• Secondary-operation machines. Many machines at L. & M. perform various secondary operations, such as machining, milling, assembly, drilling, tapping, broaching, centreless and plunge grinding, and thread rolling. Examples of these include Cincinnati and Royal Master centreless grinders, Brown and Sharpe single-spindle secondary-operation automatic screw machines, and various vertical machining centres.

With this wide range of equipment, the L. & M. crew can manufacture almost any custom parts in a cost-effective, efficient process. Customers can make parts for options such as welding components and assemblies, connectors, fittings, screws, bushings, valves, nozzles, and threaded parts for components.
