Micropilot FWR30: Endress+Hauser’s new wireless IIoT sensor provides tank-level measurement from anywhere.

Endress+Hauser Canada Ltd. introduces the Micropilot FWR30, the world’s first wireless 80-gigahertz sensor for the Industrial Internet of Things. Revolutionizing level measurement of liquids and solids, the FWR30 unites high-end measurement technology and user-friendly digital services in one economical instrument. Users can access its constantly recorded measurement information anytime, from anywhere, through the sensor’s cloud connection – providing facts instead of mere assumptions. The device also offers location-tracking data for storage tanks and containers.

Real-time monitoring of remote inventories

Storage-tank level measurement is conducted manually at more than four-fifths of production sites, and it is expensive and time-consuming. It often results in missing stocks being registered only when the tank is empty and production has stopped. Over-stocking to avoid these scenarios is typically not feasible because of extra storage costs, and measuring points are often difficult to access, hard to supply power to, and/or far-flung. The FWR30 eliminates these issues.

This instrument allows real-time monitoring of remotely stored inventories of liquid additives in plastic or metal tanks, cleaning agents in food production, building materials at construction sites, and similar substances. Its basic setup covers level measurement in plastic and open tanks; an optional process connection allows media measurement in metal tanks, including animal feed or wood pellets.

A plug-and-play device, the FWR30 can be installed in less than three minutes without special tools. Its integrated battery means users do not require external power supplies, and the free space radar sensor covers measuring ranges of up to 15 metres. The instrument works in applications that involve corrosion, abrasion, viscosity, or toxicity, due to its non-invasive measuring capabilities.

The FWR30 uses well-proven measurement technology. With more than 2.2 million installed applications and 50 years of experience, time-of-flight radar-measurement devices like this are an important part of the Endress+Hauser lineup. The new generation of Micropilot solutions offer compact design, maximum user-friendliness, and application-specific flexibility.

Users can select from a wide range of service packages for this device. Netilion Value is a simple digital monitoring solution with easy-to-connect intelligent sensors, for example. Also available are Netilion Inventory and SupplyCare hosting.
