Winton RD20 CNC tube bender cuts down bending time significantly

Rotem Industrial Products is a major Canadian source of industrial tools and equipment, and that includes a potent line of tube-bending machines by Winton Machine. One of Winton’s most innovative machines in this category is its RD20 CNC tube bender, which users can link directly to engineering in order to keep programming of new parts to a minimum.

The Winton RD20 is a quick, three-axis, CNC tube bender designed specifically for cutting down the time that it makes to produce bent parts.

A Windows-based interface platform

This tube-bending machine is controlled by an interface platform based on Windows, while also requiring manual loading and unloading. It includes a standard on-board diagnostic system that shows the status of all digital inputs and outputs.

During operation, engineering can download a CAD-generated STEP file of the bent tube into the cell’s controller, in order to reduce programming time and errors. The controller reads the file and extracts the LRA (YBC) bender information and the part’s cut length. Then it sends the cut length to the CNC cutoff machine and the bender data to the CNC tube bender. This system makes the entire tube-bending process much quicker and simpler.

Other notable features of the RD20 include the following:

• servo-controlled, three-axis, CNC rotary draw bending;
• three-dimensional graphics that display the programmed part pre-bending;
• programmable bend speed;
• twenty-millimetre OD capacity by 1D bending;
• unlimited part length with hitch feed;
• interlocked guards and safety mat, to keep machine use safe; and
• freestanding remote-control operator stand.

An optional three-dimensional model viewer for LRA data verification is also available.
