John Brooks Company carries food-safety pumps.

Pumps are among many solutions in which John Brooks Company Limited specializes. This includes products designed for food-safety requirements. The Canadian federal government has been taking action to improve the country’s food-safety system with the Safe Food for Canada Regulations (SFCR), as part of ongoing regulatory initiatives.

Licencing, traceability, and preventative controls are the main components of SFCR, and John Brooks Company supplies Wilden and Almatec pumps that meet these requirements.

Reducing risks of illness

The Saniflo Hygienic series (HS) by Wilden comprises air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pumps and patented Pure-Fuse diaphragms, the ideal combination for eliminating contamination and reducing the risks of foodborne illness. Available from John Brooks Company, these pumps provide high performance and excellent cleanability for hygienic applications.

Pure-Fuse diaphragms have a technology that incorporates a one-piece design that eliminates product-trap areas between the outer piston and diaphragms, areas that can harbour bacteria, a crucial consideration in hygienic tasks. This design also offers an unbroken fluid-contact surface for superior clean-in-place (CIP) capability and less contamination.

The HS series meets or exceeds the highest international safety standards, while offering substantial operational benefits that enhance efficiency and cleanability. The free-draining flow path optimizes performance, allows CIP capability, and reduces the risk of cross-contamination or compromised finished product that may result in expensive recalls. The option swivel stand enables easier maintenance, easier cleaning, and quicker changeovers.

Wilden recommends the HS series for hygienic applications in food processing, prepared food and sauces, poultry, dairy, sweeteners and acids, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. Watch the video below for a closer look:

Almatec’s BIOCOR series of AODD pumps offer substantial operational and design advantages that make them perfect for scenarios in which the highest level of sterility is necessary. These pumps also offer excellent containment and incorporate housing components with no horizontal areas, and users can drain them entirely without disassembling or removing them. The BIOCOR series complies with stringent sanitary requirements, with an integrated cleaning system that allows CIP and sterilize-in-place capability.
