Welding leader serves wide range of industries

Alps Welding provides custom fabrication services to North America's largest design engineers, equipment designers and plant operators in many different process industries. The chemical market

A multinational chemical company, for example, commissioned Alps Welding to manufacture two large heat exchangers measuring 40 feet in length and each weighing more than 125,000 pounds. Alps Welding fabricated the shells, assembled the internals, and inserted and expanded all of the tubes. It also hydrotested the units in its 55,000-square-foot facility before shipping them on specialized 120-foot long trailers from Woodbridge to Sarnia, Ont. 

Water treatment industry

For a client in the water treatment sector, Alps Welding fabricated a heater and storage tank, which were designed to stack on top of each other vertically. The fit of the one vessel on top of the other was critical and very difficult to correct in the field. Thanks to Alps Welding’s capacity to handle 30 feet under the hook and lift 70 tons, it was able to safely trial-fit the vessels in their correct orientation at the plant before shipping them to the site.

Oil and gas sector

A customer in the oil and gas industry commissioned Alps Welding to fabricate a sophisticated flare drum with complicated internals. The unit weighed more than 155,000 pounds, and had a 15-foot diameter shell and an 18-foot by 18-foot shipping envelope. Alps Welding fabricated the vessel and partially insulated it prior to shipment, which saved work at the site.
