weighfeeder equipment

Continental offers weighfeeders among its products.

Continental Conveyor Ltd. has been supplying quality conveying solutions to Canadian businesses since 1963, but it also manufactures and supplies other types of material-handling devices. For example, it makes a wide portfolio of weighfeeders. These products are self-contained belt feeders with controlled drive systems, speed sensors, and integrators. The Continental team designs and constructs all of its weighfeeder equipment to operate in the shearing and wild-flow modes of relevant applications.

Convenient weighfeeder application form

Whether a customer needs a solution for shearing or wild flow, Continental considers many important factors when recommending its weighfeeders for specific tasks. Among these factors are material properties, accuracy requirements, pre-feed or hopper device characteristics, and physical or electrical requirements for the application. The company encourages potential customers to request its convenient weighfeeder application form, allowing sales personnel to recommend the most suitable solution according to specific client requirements.

Weighfeeder equipment is designed for shearing applications to meter exact bed depths of materials from its hopper openings. So Continental must build both the mechanical components and the drives to handle the forces of shearing material from the openings. In wild-flow applications, a separate device – like a screw feeder, vibratory feeder, or rotary airlock – pre-feeds material into the weighfeeder’s inlet. Continental designs each unit to have enough material loading to meed wild-flow accuracy requirements, to ensure that this process always functions correctly.

Many sizes of weighfeeder equipment are available from the company, with belt widths from 45 to 152 centimetres. They have many electrical, mechanical, structural, and weighing features, such as the following ones:

  • Electrical features – belt misalignment switches and zero-feed detector;
  • Mechanical features – drive pulley, pillow-block bearings, drive and tail shafts, take-up frames, belting, chain drive, electric motor, vee plow, belt scraper, and scale quality idlers;
  • Structural features – frame, shear gate, legs, calibration weight rack, head chute, tail pulley guard, enclosure panels, and in-feed section. Continental also offers optional “C” legs, to open a side to enable removal of belts with minimal mechanical disassembly; and
  • Weighing features – weighbridge and speed sensor.
