Weathershield 15 is available from Denso.

Denso North America is a top supplier of corrosion-prevention products, including pipeline liquid coatings. This includes the Weathershield series: three acrylic topcoats designed to keep pipelines protected. Easy to apply and quick to cure, these coatings can be used in a wide range of temperatures. They conform to the high quality standards associated with Denso liquid coatings, which sets the standard for the pipeline industry.

Flexible topcoats for extra protection

The first of these pipeline liquid coatings, Weathershield 15, is a single-component, high-build, flexible, water-based acrylic topcoat developed to go over Denso Petrolatum Tapes, FB-30 Tape, and Glass Outerwrap. Applicable by brush or spray, this environmentally friendly topcoat cures at temperatures as low as ten degrees Celsius and can be applied directly over the completed tape-system installation.

Weathershield 55 is also a single-part, high-build acrylic topcoat with excellent adhesion that is intended to cover other Protal pipeline liquid coatings for colour coding and ultraviolet (UV) stability. This coating can also be used in conjunction with the Denso Tank Base Protection System as a topcoat for FB 30 Tape. Weathershield 55 is highly recommended for ponding water areas, and its advantages include high impact and abrasion resistance, curability at temperatures as low as four degrees Celsius, and flexibility. Applicable by hand or spray.

Third, Weathershield 220 is an extremely quick-drying coating designed to go over FBE. This user-friendly coating has low VOCs, exhibits high UV stability, and offers five to ten years of UV protection, depending on the environment. Before application, the surface should be dry, warmer than 4.4 degrees Celsius, and a minimum of ten degrees Celsius above the dew point. The user should remove all grease, oil, dirt, dust, and other contaminants, but no abrasive blast cleaning is needed. This topcoat is applied by brush, roller, or airless spray unit.
